What Wendy Mesley Didn’t Tell Canadians
Ottawa – March 10, 2006
P hysicians for a Smoke-Free Canada (PSC) today sent an open letter to Wendy Mesley, offering comments on a recent segment of Marketplace that dealt with cancer prevention.PSC appreciates the efforts that Wendy Mesley and her colleagues have taken to shine the spotlight on the need for cancer prevention, but is concerned that the focus of her program told an imbalanced story of cancer control and incorrectly characterized the work of the Canadian Cancer Society. “I hope that Ms Mesley and her colleagues at the CBC ensure they devote more programming time to providing Canadians with a more balanced and complete story of how Canadians can reduce their risks for cancer,” said Neil Collishaw, Research Director at Physicians for a Smoke-Free Canada (PSC) and author of the letter to Ms Mesley.
